Overview
In line with its vision of becoming the preferred supplier of high quality cement and related construction products, Sino Zimbabwe Cement Company realises the need to manifest a brand of excellence in its interactions with its customers and other stakeholders.
To this end the company adopted a two pronged strategy of ensuring that all its business activities are certified to the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and developing a culture of excellence heavily influenced by Total Quality Management principles.
The company became certified to ISO 9001:2015 in May 2018 and has successfully maintained its certification status through several surveillance audits
In this regard the company has adopted and established the following within the framework of its quality management system
- A risk based approach where risks and opportunities relevant to its strategic direction are identified and prioritised for action.
- Identification and engagement of key stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations in order to improve its responsiveness
- Understanding the needs of its customers and paying due attention to the risks and opportunities that have potential to affect conformity of its products and services, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction.
- Employing a process approach which is centred on the Plan- Do Check Act cycle where time bound plans are established, resourced and reviewed through careful selection of key performance indicators.
- Taking total responsibility at Top Management level on the functioning and effectiveness of its Quality Management System through a program of Performance evaluation, administering Internal Audits and Management Reviews.
The company also realises that a system without a culture of excellence cannot be sustained. Its operations are hence influenced by a total quality culture in which the following group of beliefs are highly regarded and upheld.
- SZCC puts strong focus developing a management culture that is identified with role model management, capacity for leadership and direction and the development of high performance self- directed teams
- Competency and awareness are emphasised through communication, training and behaviour change coaching programmes to develop an employee that fits into the strategic thrust of the organization
- Emphasis is also put into business systems and performance measurement incorporating Quality Management Systems, goal driven measurement and coordinated continuous improvement.
- SZCC believes in a participatory style of management where employee empowerment, recognition and regular performance appraisals are highly regarded practices to bring out the best potential in its employees.

Sino Zimbabwe Cement Company manufactures and sells four cement types in its product portfolio. They are all manufactured to international standards. Compliance is monitored in house by stringent ISO 9001:20115 based in house quality control and quality assurance programs that are also complimented by surveillance audits from Standards Association of Zimbabwe, the local representative of the International Organization of Standards.
Through this arrangement, the company is approved to carry the SAZ certification scheme mark as a guarantee of compliance.
Guidelines for safety and use are printed on the cement product bags. Brochures are also available from our Field Marketing Representatives. For high load bearing structures such as bridges and dam walls it is recommended that customers work with qualified concrete technologists and civil engineers for guidance on mix designs.
Technical services are also available on request from the company’s Technical Services support team and they can be accessed through the Field Sales Representatives in your region.
High focus is given on improving consistency in the key product quality attributes referred to as compressive strengths, setting time and workability. The company recognises that cement is a raw material input into the processes of its customers. Product uniformity becomes a very important attribute that guarantees good performance in the processes of its customers.
The company’s Quality Management System provides for continuous engagement with customers on the degree to which their requirements are met and monitors consistency and convenience of use of its products.
